Mario Keller's Bar or, Gasthofz's is a large, classic, Bavarian style bar deep in the heart of Northeast Minneapolis. It is also one of NE's #1 bars, drawing a large, mixed crowd from all other parts of the city. At night, the normal crowd is casually dressed, 21-30 years old, and stay till late for the dancing, live music, and always flowing German Beers (over 16 different specialty taps!).
Gasthofz's is set up and well prepared to handle a crowd. Some long wooden tables seat up to 50 people or more. Large groups come in to dine on Wiener schnitzel and other authentic German Cuisine with their families. However, Gasthofz's is most popular for their late nights. Most action usually starts at or after 10pm in the downstairs.
Music changes nightly, but on Friday and Saturday Gasthofz's usually features live Polka bands from 8pm-12am with a DJ spinning the best Top 40 after that (no weekend cover).
Waitresses dressed in Lederhosen bring patrons ample helpings of shots and snuff (snorting tobacco), while groups take turns passing the “BOOT\", a large boot-shaped mug filled with your favorite German brew. The patrons usually get in to the music, make sure you come with a lot of energy and are up for dancing, because the cramped weekends and live music usually make Gasthofz's an incredibly fun and insane night.
PARKING is free in the large lot or on the Northeast Streets.
